Bishops Anstey and Trinity College East held their 2nd Annual Fun Aerobics Marathon on Friday 15th February, 2008, at the Bishops Anstey East High School Compound in Trincity. Scores of students from Bishops Anstey and Trinity College participated as they tested their fitness, endurance and coordination skills against each other. Members of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force were on hand to lead the aerobics and to judge the competitors.

Preceding the start of the marathon was a performance by the Unique Style Dancers who brought their youthfulness and choreographed moves to the stage. The five member group thrilled the audience with their moves to a mixture of Dancehall, Hip Hop and Soca songs.

The first round was a fun round that gave competitors a chance to warm up and get their coordination correct. As the second round came around, some competitors started to be shown warning paddles by officials for incomplete moves, wrong moves, stopping or hesitating. These warnings resulted in some competitors being ejected from the competition.

After the first water break, the number of remaining competitors had dwindled considerably, with the remaining field strongly dominated by the females. When the second water-break rolled around, there were eleven competitors remaining, all female, including two teachers, Ms. Sonia Nathansingh and Ms. Jacinth John. The ladies gave their all but the numbers whittled down further until there were four ladies on the large Bishops East floor.

When teacher Sonia Nathansingh and Alicia Martin were shown the dreaded paddles, Maria Cabrera and Kerdesha Phillip were left on the floor and they kept going until Kerdesha was paddled. Maria Cabrera was crowned the 2008 Fun Aerobics Champion, with Kerdesha Phillip and Alicia Forde being the first and second runners-up respectively.

The Bishops Anstey and Trinity College East 2nd annual Fun Aerobics Marathon was an exciting success and teachers and students can look forward to the event continuing in the years to come.
