A cast of twenty-three calypsonians vied for a place in the semi-final round of the competition. This event took place at the tent&#8217;s seasonal home base, Queen&#8217;s Park Savannah, Port of Spain. The show&#8217;s programme was hosted by comedians Tommy Joseph and Pelf. Music was provided by the tent&#8217;s resident band Len Cummings and the Wailers featuring ace trumpeter Errol Ince with the Kaiso Jewels back-up singers.
