ONELLA JACK: I am a member of the Picton Folk Performing Company as a dancer. All I want to say is that being here keeps me out of trouble. It keeps me motivated and jolly and it is always exciting and a lot of fun. All I want to say is that we really need a place to rehearse and keep the group together because as Candy said, it will break up the group and all of us wouldn't want that. It is very important to keep this group going because when we are together we are like a family and that keeps everyone out of trouble. Instead of sitting at home not doing anything you could come and sing, you could learn to dance, do drama and so on. There are a lot of activities in the group. There are some people who are not members of the group would be at home doing nothing would come to see us practice and so on.

CHRISTIAN THOMAS: If it wasn't for this group I would have gotten myself into real trouble. I might have been in a gang and so on. This group has me going to school and focused. I am a drummer in this group and I also sing and act. As it stands, I do everything. It feels good to be a part of this group and involved in all the activities because this life right now is a real struggle. This group really helps you to make it. If you can get more young people to be in this group it will be a good thing.

JACQUELINE JACK: I am a parent and also a member of the group. I am the costume mistress of the group. Since I joined Picton it seems like I am more in the group than I am home. Once the group says show time, as the costume mistress I will be here. It is very hard to see we do not have a place to rehearse. I am pleading to everybody who reads this or hears about our plight to please lend a helping hand in getting somewhere for us to house the group. Even if you can't assist us but you know someone who can seek the help, please contact us as soon as possible. The group's dance chorographer, Mr. Carlos Griffith, is my family and I am the one who begged him to join the group. Ms. Carlene told me to talk to him and I begged him. To this day I am so glad he is here. Even the dancers will say, "Yuh see if he leaving we ain't dancing." I know he is not leaving to go anywhere. He is like the father to all of them right now.

JOHANNA MOHAMMED: I have been dancing with the Picton Folk Performing Company for nine years now. The group is a very nice place to be and being in Picton it keeps the youths and them out of trouble. There was a time when I started to lapse and so on but I got pulled up from the executives from the group. This group has been a positive influence in my life because it keeps you from going and liming with people who will lead you astray. It puts sense in your head knowing you are from Picton because people have a lot to say about Laventille, but you could change people's mind and make them say something positive about the area. I just hope we get somewhere by the end of this month.

ELTON POMPEY: Since I joined this group it has done a lot for me in keeping out of trouble. Where music is concerned they taught me how to play the drums, guitar, steelpan and other things. I am asking people out there who can assist to please help us to get a place to practice. This group is like my second family and without it I don't know where I would have been right now. I used to be involved in a lot of fights and they talked to me. They kept me out of trouble by always giving me something positive to do like the drumming so I didn't have any time to lime and so on and that helped me out a lot.

JEVON HAMILTON: I have been in this group for about three years now. Here is like a second home to me. I spend most of my time here; I don't spend time at home. Being here gives me the inspiration to go to school. I used to duck classes before I came here and now my teacher applauds me and I would do things like stand up and talk in front of the class and so on. I play basketball, drumming, act, sing and dance. This group gives me the inspiration to do everything. I won a competition just the other day and we got a real tall trophy. I also get to go to parties and come outside late and so on. Those are just some of the good experiences I have had in this group.
