Every year in the months and weeks leading up to the annual Carnival celebrations, Trinidad gets aerobics fever. From the Queens Park Savannah to gyms across the country, males and females, young and old begin the quest for physical fitness for the grueling two days on the road: Carnival Monday and Tuesday. On Friday 9th February, 2007, the Bishop Anstey High School and Trinity College East's newly opened 6th form school joined in the excitement with the launch of its first Annual Aerobics Marathon, held at the school auditorium.

The auditorium was a hive of activity as competitors from forms one to six, dressed in the colours of their respective houses, Beaulieu, Arcadia, Montague, Sunrise, Dinsley and Rawlan, named for neighborhoods in the Trincity area, sat on the floor awaiting the start of the competition. Organizers, teachers and 6th formers who acted as runners/officials for the competition, bustled around adding to the general air of excitement. Sponsors for the well-planned event included: Blue Waters, Multibionta, Nestle Trinidad and Tobago Ltd, A.S Brydens, Gatorade, Hi Lo Supermarket- Arima, UWI Sport and Physical Education Centre, Pennywise Cosmetics, Bryden PI Limited, Cher Mere, Sports and Games Limited, Anthony P. Scott & Company. These contributed in many areas, including prizes for winners, tokens of appreciation for instructors and organizers, refreshments and T-shirts for the organizers and officials.

The competition began with a ten-minute warm up led by instructor Michael Prentice. During this period contestants were given a reprieve from elimination and allowed to get used to the often complicated moves designed to test their endurance, coordination and energy levels. Once this period ended, competitors could be eliminated for incomplete movements, incorrect movements, hesitation, poor coordination, stoppage, medical attention and walking off the court. Other instructors included History and Communications Studies teacher Mr. Ali, Brent Elder and Peter Sam. As the competition officially began, runners moved between the lines of energetic competitors citing them for infractions and after three warnings eliminating some competitors. Water breaks were structured and completed within the competition time as students had to keep jogging in their lines while they got water from tables set up around the auditorium. This also gave some a needed opportunity for rest from the complex routines.

As the time wore on, more and more students were eliminated. Despite this, the school and house spirit was high as eliminated students and supporters gathered at the back of the auditorium dancing to the music and cheering on their colleagues. After approximately two hours, three competitors were left; sixth form student Kerdesha Phillip of Arcadia House, sixth form student Micah Mitchell of Montague House and second form student Amanda Garcia of Arcadia House. After a tense fight, Amanda Garcia was eliminated first leaving the lone male Micah Mitchell to take second place and Kerdesha Phillip to take the title of champion of the first annual aerobics competition.
