They were easily one of the top annual community events. Used to be called "Harvests" or "Harvest festivals". Do you remember when they used to be at the original Boys' (now St.J Convent) RC School?

Funny, but I had the same thought:). Of course when it's a hot Good Friday afternoon and one is wearing one's best church-going clothes and genuflecting at each Station of the Cross, it is steeper.

I am neither pro or con on this particular enterprise, but, perhaps the real issue here is that perhaps zoning laws are needed.

Up to the mid 1950's at least, there was a Mills' house, which looked like this, but it was on level ground on Queen Street, if I recall the name of the street correctly, near the cemetery. This house is on Abercromby Street.
