Posse 67 Clean-up at St. Dominic’s Ground

On Sunday 17th July, 2016, members of Posse 67, a volunteer organization, spent half the day in a clean-up campaign at the St. Dominic’s Children’s Home in Belmont in honour of Nelson Mandela International Day.

On Saturday 16th July, 2016, members of Posse 67 visited The St. Andrew’s Home for the Aged in Belmont to spend a casual evening of entertainment with some of its residents. In the spirit of giving back to those whose works and struggles helped pave the way for younger generations, Posse 67 contributed their time to socialise with the elderly.

Nrityanjali Theatre Institute for the Arts and Culture, presents “Shakuntalam”

On Tuesday 19th July, 2016, the Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Cultural Co-Operation, High Commission of India and the Nrityanjali Theatre presented an Indian Classical Ballet titled “Shakuntalam”, a Sanskrit play written by Kalidasa. This dance drama is the story of love between Shakuntala and Dushayanta played by Alana Rajah and Kyle Robert Poliah.

Party 67 2016 hosted by Mr. Rowland Hopley

On Saturday 28th May, 2016, Posse 67 hosted their annual fund-raising cocktail party at One Woodbrook Place Towers, Port of Spain. This year’s event was held both in honour of Nelson Mandela 67 Minutes of Service and also to bid farewell to founder, Mr. Rowland Hopley’s term at the South African High Commission which ended on June 30, 2016.

Kaisorama 2016 – Extempo & Categories Finals

On Thursday 04th February, 2016, the Trinbago Unified Calypsonians’ Organisation (TUCO), hosted their annual Kaisorama event at the Grand Stand, Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain. This year’s event was dedicated to honoring Paul “Trinidad Bill” Trotman for his numerous contributions.

On Monday 01st February, 2016, the Trinbago Unified Calypsonians’ Organisation (TUCO), in collaboration with First Citizens, hosted the National Junior Calypso Monarch Final at the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain. This year marked the fortieth anniversary of the competition which started in 1996.

Ladies Night Out 2016

On Saturday 23rd January, 2016, Randy Glasgow Productions (RGP) hosted their 13th annual Ladies Night Out Mega Concert at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo. For this year’s concert, RGP featured two specially invited guest performers, namely Jamaican reggae artiste Jah Cure and Cuban-American balladist Jon Secada.

Kaiso Karavan Calypso Tent Judging Night 2016

On Friday 22nd January, 2016, TUCO’s east zone calypso tent, Kaiso Karavan, was visited by the National Calypso Monarch judging panel for the preliminary round of judging. A cast of twenty-two calypsonians vied for a place in the semi-final round of the competition. This event took place at the tent’s seasonal home base in the Eric Williams Auditorium, La Joya Complex, Eastern Main Road, St. Joseph.

Divas Calypso Cabaret International Judging Night 2016

On Thursday 21st January, 2016, the all-female calypso tent, Divas Calypso Cabaret International was visited by the National Calypso Monarch judging panel for the preliminary round of judging. A cast of fifteen calypsonians vied for a place in the semi-final round of the competition. This event took place at De Nu-Pub (Mas Camp Pub), Ariapita Avenue and French Street, Woodbrook.
