Mairoon Ali’s Send-Off: A Celebration of Life

Beautiful! That’s the most appropriate word that can be used to describe the celebration ceremony of the life of Mairoon Ali at Queen’s Hall, St Ann’s, yesterday. An almost packed auditorium of family and friends, who came out to pay tribute and bid a final farewell to a treasured woman, were treated to nothing short of the many colours of Ali.

Panaide – The Benefit Concert

On Thursday 17th December, 2009, “Panaide – The Benefit Concert” was hosted by the newly formed Panaide Foundation at the Neal and Massy Trinidad All Stars Steel Orchestra panyard in Port of Spain. Sponsored steelbands in Port-of-Spain and environs performed with the aim of raising funds to assist unsponsored bands in that geographical location.

Lydia Paul’s Send-Off

Teacher, community activist, social worker and PNM affiliate, Lydia Paul, was buried on December 14, 2009. This album contains scenes from the funeral service from St. David’s Anglican Church to the Cemetery in Plymouth, Tobago which was attended by relatives, friends and members of the People’s National Movement.

Bollywood Dance Company presents ‘Rhythm Divine’

On Saturday 12th December, 2009, the Bollywood Dance Company presented their grand fundraising concert entitled “Rhythm Divine”. This event was held at the Rex Car Ltd. Compound in Mulchan Trace, Penal. It was an evening of Indian dance and entertainment which included a magic performance and a skit about the life styles of the rich and the poor.

Penal – Journey along Rock Road

This scenic view in Penal was taken on Saturday 12th December, 2009, along Rock Road and various areas off Rock Road in Penal. Originally referred to as Peñeraal, Penal is a town in south Trinidad. It lies south of San Fernando and Debe, and north of Siparia. Predominantly occupied by East Indians, this town has health facilities, restaurants, clothing stores, recreation clubs, schools, community centres and much more.

Lydian Singers & Lydian Steel – Handel’s Messiah

Lydian Singers & Lydian Steel’s “Handel’s Messiah” took place on December 10, 2009, at Queen’s Hall, P.O.S. Led by choir master Pat Bishop, audience members were titillated by the sounds of the Steelband orchestra, the several intermittent dance performances as well as by the wondrous blend of the voices of the Lydian singers.

Morvant Epiphany Anglican Primary School – Spirit of Christmas

The Morvant Epiphany Anglican Primary School hosted their Christmas party entitled “Spirit of Christmas” on Wednesday 09th, 2009. This event was held on the school’s compound located on Dos Santos Street, Morvant. The party included a fashion show, a puppet show and a dance competition.

On Saturday 09th December 2009, Triniview.com visited various areas in Morvant. Morvant is located in the southern foothills of the Northern Range, Trinidad Island. The Lady Young Road borders Morvant on the north and east and divides the community from Mon Repos on the northeast and Barataria on the southeast. Some of the neighboring Communities include Laventille, East Dry River and Belmont.
