President’s 2014 Calypso Reception

On Friday 31st October, 2014, President’s Annual Calypso Reception was held at the National Academy for the Performing Arts. Decorators for the event had done a remarkable job as gold covered tables stood at intervals accentuated with lovely, fresh floral arrangements under overhead murals floating on suspending wires in the softly lit Chinese restaurant.

Flooding in Manzanilla

On the east coasts of Trinidad, the catchments of Ortoire and Nariva have been affected by severe flooding over the last two weeks with some residents being marooned in their homes and villages for varying periods of time.

Noble Douglas Dance Company presents ‘Teeth’

Cubes in Space 2014 Awards Ceremony

On September 26th 2014, Trinidad and Tobago was the host of the Cubes in Space awards ceremony which was held at the residence of the Canadian High Commissioner in Fairways, Maraval, to celebrate the victors of the competition and to launch the 2015 programme.

COCO Dance Festival 2014

The Contemporary Choreographers’ Collective (COCO) Dance Festival opened in Queen’s Hall on Friday 3rd October, 2014, for its sixth annual showcasing of dance pieces from across the Caribbean and around the world. The festival this year differed from previous years in that it included a greater number of dancers and choreographers from outside the Caribbean region.

St. Augustine Chamber Orchestra presents Classics Rule! Movies Rock!

On Saturday 23rd August, the St. Augustine Chamber Orchestra (SACO) featuring the Trinidad and Tobago Youth Philharmonic (TTYP) graced the stage of the Queen’s Hall to present one of its annual musical concerts.

Cultural Development: Developing and Marketing T&T’s Cultural Sector

On September 17th 2014, the Ministry of the Arts and Multiculturalism hosted the launch of several documents on the state of culture in Trinidad and Tobago at the Hyatt Regency, Wrightson Road, Port of Spain. The title of the event was ‘Culturing Development: the Significance of the Arts and Cultural Industries in Trinidad and Tobago’.

COCO Dance Festival 2014 Media Launch

On Monday 22nd September, 2014, the Contemporary Choreographers’ Collective (COCO) annual Dance Festival was launched at the Résidence de France in Port of Spain. Guests were greeted by Ms. Amba Revillac and Ms. Celine Singh and engaged in tête-à-tête while they enjoyed cocktails and sauntered along the latticed verandah.

T&T Reparations Committee Meeting and Lecture

On Monday 12th August, 2014, members of the Trinidad and Tobago National Committee on Reparations (TTNCR) held their 9th meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, level 14 of the Waterfront Complex, Wrightson Road, Port of Spain where the committee members were also presented with their instruments of appointment by His Excellency Mervyn Assam.
