Trinidad and Tobago has lost yet another cultural icon. Rapso pioneer Lutalo “Brother Resistance” Masimba died shortly after 1AM on July 13, 2021 at West Shore Medical Private Hospital, Cocorite. He was 67 years old.

Launch of National Junior Calypso Monarch Competition

On Wednesday 23rd January, 2019, the Trinbago Unified Calypsonian Organization (TUCO) in collaboration with First Citizens, hosted the official launch of the 2019 National Junior Calypso Monarch Competition. This event was held at the VIP Lounge of the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain. The morning’s assemblage included First Citizens and TUCO representatives, Ministry of Education School Supervisor of Port of Spain and environs Carl Thomas, and in the Curriculum Division Josephine Torrel-Brown, representatives of the National AIDS Coordinating committee Mr. Ian Ramdahin, Dr. Ayanna Sebro, Luke Lashley and Heather Rodney, students of the Belmont Boys R.C. School, and the Melville Memorial Girls Anglican School.

The Launch of “Monarchs”

On Wednesday 02nd January, 2019, Trinidad and Tobago’s very own Calypso Monarch Duane O Connor, joined by friends, family and well-wishers, celebrated the official grand opening of his new establishment, Monarchs at #10 Ariapita Avenue, Woodbrook, Port of Spain.

Among those present for this auspicious event were Minister of Public Administration and Member of Parliament for the area, Marlene McDonald, president of the Trinbagonian Unified Calypsonians Organisation (TUCO), Lutalo ‘Brother Resistance’ Masimba and members of the calypso, steelpan and other cultural fraternities.

TUCO’s Second Health Seminar with Dr. Solaiman Juman

On Saturday 08th September, 2018, the Trinbago Unified Calypsonians Organization (TUCO) hosted their second Health Seminar in the V.I.P. Lounge at the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain. The seminar was officially launched in May this year and is aimed at raising healthy lifestyle awareness. It examines pertinent issues of poor health which include common causes, prevention and management to ensure a healthy and improved lifestyle.

On Monday 01st February, 2016, the Trinbago Unified Calypsonians’ Organisation (TUCO), in collaboration with First Citizens, hosted the National Junior Calypso Monarch Final at the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain. This year marked the fortieth anniversary of the competition which started in 1996.

Ladies Night Out 2016

On Saturday 23rd January, 2016, Randy Glasgow Productions (RGP) hosted their 13th annual Ladies Night Out Mega Concert at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo. For this year’s concert, RGP featured two specially invited guest performers, namely Jamaican reggae artiste Jah Cure and Cuban-American balladist Jon Secada.

Kaiso Karavan Calypso Tent Judging Night 2016

On Friday 22nd January, 2016, TUCO’s east zone calypso tent, Kaiso Karavan, was visited by the National Calypso Monarch judging panel for the preliminary round of judging. A cast of twenty-two calypsonians vied for a place in the semi-final round of the competition. This event took place at the tent’s seasonal home base in the Eric Williams Auditorium, La Joya Complex, Eastern Main Road, St. Joseph.
