Students, film lovers and environment enthusiasts turned out in their numbers at Queen’s Hall, Port of Spain for the opening night of the ninth annual Green Screen Film Festival, themed “Play Your Part”. This event was hosted by Sustain T&T, on Tuesday 05th November, 2019. The programme included the 2019 Very Short Shorts (VSS) Mobile Film Competition screenings of the twenty-five finalists along with the featured film “When Lambs Become Lions” and the awards presentation. Specially invited guests included Minister of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries Senator the Honourable Clarence Rambharat; His Worship the Mayor of the City Port of Spain, Alderman Joel Martinez; Alderman Aasha Permanand of the City of Port of Spain; founder and director of Sustain T&T, Carver Bacchus; SWMCOL sponsor representative, CEO Kevin Thompson; FilmTT sponsor representative General Manager Ms. Nneka Luke; and bmobile sponsor representative Senior Manager of Corporate Communications TSTT, Marsha Caballero. Renaldo “Red” Frederick emerged the overall winner of the competition with his film “Eden Eaten” and Janis Mollineau the Jury Youth winner with her film “Compost It”.

Port of Spain Bioblitz and Nature Fair 2016

From Friday 4th to Sunday 6th November, 2016, the Royal Botanic Gardens was the base camp for the highly informative fifth annual “Port of Spain BioBlitz and Nature Fair”. Hosted by the Trinidad & Tobago Field Naturalists Club (TTFNC) and the University of the West Indies Zoology Museum, the occasion included over twenty organizations, NGO and charities.

Police Men Can Cook Competition 2015

On Saturday 03rd October, 2015, the North West region, under the auspices of the Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police, Carlisle Huggins of the Western Division, hosted its first annual “Police Men Can Cook” competition aimed at building comradeship amongst fellow officers and strengthening police-community relations.

On Monday 29th June, 2015, the water taxi terminal on Wrightson Road, Port of Spain, was filled with students from nine primary and secondary schools, eager to journey across to Nelson Island to attend the Tubal Uriah Butler: The Nelson Island Experience event.

Posse 67 Children’s Day 2015

On Saturday 18th July, 2015, Posse 67, one of Trinidad and Tobago’s recognized volunteer organizations hosted their Children’s Day event in Port of Spain. The day’s activities included a visit to the Emperor Valley Zoo on Zoo Road, Port of Spain, lunch at the Port of Spain Girl Guides Headquarters and a visit to the Hilton Hotel ending the days proceedings with a Nelson Mandela birthday celebration.

Palo’s Crew 2015 Mother’s Day Lime

Once again, the hard-working members of the Palos Crew showed their dedication and commitment to community service. On Sunday 10th May, 2015, the crew hosted a Mother’s Day community event in the car park of the Mango Rose compound, Picadilly Street, Port of Spain. Mothers from Mango Rose and neighbouring communities were treated to an evening of relaxation, music and fun with friends and family.

“Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition Press Conference

On Wednesday 15th April, 2015, the Chinese Embassy to Trinidad and Tobago, the Confucius Institute at UWI, the Chinese Association of Trinidad and Tobago, the China Society of Trinidad and Tobago, and the Trinidad and Tobago Chinese Chamber of Commerce, held a joint press conference at the headquarters of the Chinese Association of Trinidad and Tobago in St. Ann’s, Port of Spain, for the preliminary competition of the “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition 2015.

The Career Fair 2014

The Embassy of the United States of America and the High Commission of Canada hosted its 13th Annual College Fair at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Wrightson Road, Port of Spain Spain on Saturday 15th November and Sunday 16th November, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day.

Cubes in Space 2014 Awards Ceremony

On September 26th 2014, Trinidad and Tobago was the host of the Cubes in Space awards ceremony which was held at the residence of the Canadian High Commissioner in Fairways, Maraval, to celebrate the victors of the competition and to launch the 2015 programme.

The Palo’s Crew Emancipation Concert: An Evening of Culture

On Saturday 2nd August, the Mango Rose, Port of Spain neighbourhood was a hub of activity for the hosting of the annual Emancipation Day Concert hosted by The Palo’s Crew. The event was billed “An Evening of Culture” and themed “To Educate is to Emancipate.” This concert seeks not only to entertain, but also serves as a platform for acknowledging and rewarding the efforts of individuals who have excelled from the community.
